Katrina Metcalf, FNP-BCC, MSN, RN, BS is a board-certified nurse practitioner at Valley View’s Heart and Vascular Center in Grand Junction. She brings vast inpatient and outpatient adult cardiology experience to the team, along with a nurse practitioner Master’s Degree of Science from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs.

Katrina’s educational journey first brought her to Colorado. Originally from Wyoming, she moved to Grand Junction to attend Colorado Mesa University. She has stayed in Colorado because she appreciates the involved and active community.

Katrina has spent her entire working life in the medical field—by age 16 she was working as an EKG technician and found her calling very quickly. “I fell in love with the heart right from the beginning,” she says. “Every heart is unique, and the treatment for every patient is different. In fact, treatment for one patient may not even work for another. We look at each person individually, building relationships with them and creating partnerships. Treatment becomes a journey, and we use our resources to take that journey with our patients.”

When she is away from the office, Katrina enjoys outdoor recreation, from paddleboarding in the summer to snowshoeing when the snow falls. “I’m avid about hunting and fishing too,” she adds. “Our community is small, and many patients tend to be interested in the same things I am, so it’s another opportunity to connect with the people we take care of.”
