Cardiac Implanted Electronic Device

The focus of this care is to manage pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), implantable loop recorders, and heart failure devices (also known as cardiac resynchronization therapy or CRT) to ensure that the required continuous review and monitoring of these devices is done. One on one patient education and continuous review and monitoring of rhythms is done with a personal touch. Comprehensive care to optimize the function of loop recorders, pacemakers, defibrillators and heart failure devices. To meet the unique needs of each patient for optimal well-being. Our dedicated team members receive advanced training from the medical device industry.

Our cardiology/electrophysiology physician specialists pair newly implanted cardiac devices with wired or cellular adapted remote monitors, so data is gathered automatically and remotely. Our ability to discover arrhythmia data and changes in monitored values can lead to early intervention and promotes the best clinical outcomes, including increased survival benefit. Post-implantation, our patients are seen for education and to evaluate the surgical site. Automatic remote transmission can alert our specialists, promoting rapid response times.

Treatment of Heart Arrhythmias & Cardiac Device Monitoring

  • Monitoring of pacemaker implants, a small electronic device that is placed in your chest via a small incision. These are recommended to help control abnormal slow heart rhythms.

  • Monitoring of an implantable loop recorder, a type of heart monitoring device that records heart rhythms for up to three years.

  • Monitoring of Implantable cardiac device implants, designed to protect you from life threatening cardiac arrhythmias by defibrillation therapy and pacing of the heart. They are inserted via a small incision on the chest.

  • Designed to coordinate the pumping function of both sides of the heart.

  • This is a procedure were the electrophysiologist is able to closely evaluate the electrical function of your heart. The purpose of this is to find the most appropriate treatment for your heart rhythm.

  • A procedure where heat is used to ablate heart tissue responsible for abnormal heart rhythms.

  • Cryoablation is a procedure where extreme cold is used to ablate heart tissue responsible for abnormal heart rhythms. Laser Ablation is a procedure where a laser is used to ablate heart tissue responsible for abnormal heart rhythms.

  • For patients with long-standing or long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation, this procedure combines the skills and expertise of a cardiothoracic surgeon and an electrophysiologist in using radiofrequency ablation on the outside of the heart AND inside of the heart, to ablate the tissue responsible for conducting abnormal heart rhythms. This procedure is a minimally invasive procedure meaning it is done through small holes made in the chest which allows for a shorter hospital stay and a much quicker recovery. We also offer a Convergent Plus procedure.
